Masaka Diocese which is about 21, 299 sq.km is one of the first Catholic Dioceses created in Uganda when Pope Pius XII established the hierarchy in 1953. The Diocese has grown rapidly numerically. It now has a population of about 2.2 million people with about 1.3 million Catholics. The Diocese has 65 Parishes divided into 14 Deaneries.
As a Diocese we must move away from the “come to Church approach” and go to “move to the people approach or method”. (The Church in exit in Pope Francis’s language).

His Lordship in an effort to realize the grassroot evangelization also created a Directorate of Grassroot Evangelization and Small Christian Communities on 6th July 2019. This directorate is tasked with moving around the 65 Parishes to ensure that Small Christian Communities are established, followed up and strengthened.
To be an evangelized and evangelizing Church, United, Co-Ordinated and Self-Sustaining, Rooted in the Basic Christian Community.
To help all Christians understand that being a Christian is not just about being in the Church, but it means that the Christian is the Church itself. (Now Christ’s body is yourselves, each of you with a part to play in the whole 1 Cor. 12:27).
